P1 - Fifa 17
a) Purpose - The purpose of this design product is to promote, sell and advertise the game towards the target audience so that the company make a lot of money and can continue to make games in the future and gain profit off of their games.
b) Format - This is a print based media product for the game, Fifa 17. It is the game cover and also the image for the game poster used to promote the game by putting it up on boards and bus stops around different cities and it is also the design for the final game cover as the final merchandise product being sold within many shops. The posters for it where A3 & A2 and the game covers dimensions are 171x133x12mm.
c) Content - This cover is a simple design of one football player with the title of the game, it also has a couple of extra images on it to advertise certain game modes within the game itself. very simple but very iconic and effective.
d) Style - This Fifa cover like the majority of Fifa covers bases it on one individual player, in past games their has been 1, 2 or 3 players but never any more. They always use bright colours and make it very simple as there age rating is 3 so they make the cover so simple for younger people. The text in the bottom right corner tells you about what is in the game and adds to the attraction to basically tell the audience to buy it because of some features in the game. They use a main footballer on the cover because every time they bring out FIFA it has the same style and it has always appealed to its intended target audience in the past and therefore will still work, they go for the style of if it isn't broke don't fix it. The simplistic style and bright colours is used because it makes it so simple to attract people towards the game especially young people who get drawn to the bright colours on the cover.
e) Layout - The layout of this cover is very easy and simple, one iconic football player with the game title with a football crowd in the background. They put the title central on the cover and place the player slightly to one side although still quite central. It also has a couple of little sticker icons in the bottom corner to advertise certain aspects in the game.
f ) Target audience - The target audience for Fifa 17 is teenagers and young adults of a wide range from 12 - 22 year olds, it is aimed towards males as it is a sports game and football is predominantly a male sport although female football has recently become a bigger thing so females will also be attracted to the poster and game cover. Lots of younger people are targeted for this design because the cover and poster have very bright colours on them and that attracts younger audiences. The cover is advertised and attracts towards people who like football because it uses a top football player on the cover to gain their interest.
g) Regulatory bodies - The Advertising Standards Authority are in charge of looking over any adverts that FIFA 17 release being trailers, posters and any other form of advertisement. The would be the companies in control if anybody was offended by the advertisements and tried contacting in about it, with this games advert that will not happen as they do not have anything in their adverts and posters that causes any offense to the public because the game now features women so it doesn't discriminate against genders. It also has no rude or violent scenes in the adverts because it is made and targeted for kids and teenagers, if they were to feature anything bad in their advert then they may offend some groups of people and it would also mean they would have a different target audience.
The Regulatory body are in control of making sure the game is given the correct certificate rating to what content they have within in the game. The regulatory body is in charge of making sure nothing bad happens to the company or the game through law suites for any reason, they have control of the game so that it sticks to its certificate rating within the laws of that specific rating.
P1 - Power Rangers
a) Purpose
The purpose of this film poster is to promote, advertise and sell the film to the target audience, to get peoples attention so that they pay to go and watch the film and buy the DVD or other merchandise that is related with the film.
b) Format
This is a film and character poster for the film Power Rangers (2017) It is used as advertisement, it will be put up on billboards and bus stops to advertise the film as a graphic design product that promotes the film.
c) Content
The poster features the characters in their action poses. It also shows the title of the film and when it's being released in the cinema and also the cast.
d) Style
The characters in the poster are illustrations, this along with the outline the poses create show that they're paying homage to the old power ranger covers. It appeals to kids because the colours are bright and action poses are exciting. It appeals to adults because it reminds them of when they watched the tv show growing up.
e) Layout
The layout of this poster is quite traditional with the title, release date and cast and crew along the bottom with the main image taking up most of the space and centred.
f ) Target audience
This poster's target audience is young adults aged 12 to 25. This is due to the nature of superhero film and the nostalgia factor that comes with an old property. Younger audiences are targeted because the simplistic style and bright colours attract and appeal to kids and younger teenagers, it is also aimed at young adults because there was a power rangers TV show that a lot of older teenagers would've seen and therefore would still be interested in seeing a film about it.
g) Regulatory bodies
The BBFC and ASA UK rate films and advertisements. The rating the for the power rangers film is 12a. The advertisements however have to follow different rules set by the ASA if they're going be seen in public or in a magazine/newspaper/website. The industry regulates itself with its ads with the condition that "consumers are not misled, harmed or offended and the ad helps maintain consumer confidence in advertising." This process of self regulation is cost effective.
The power rangers advert doesn't raise any alarms of concern in terms of violence, profanity or offensiveness as its a rather simplistic ad. Some would argue the fighting pose could cause issues but since they aren't fighting anything and they're just floating in the air the adverts meets the criteria for it to be seen in the public.
P1 - YEEZUS
a) Purpose:
The purpose of this Graphic Design work is to be put up on billboards and on social media sites to sell, advertise and promote this upcoming album and to promote the artist Kanye West.
b) Format:
This work is a poster that is used to be stuck on buildings and advertising boards as well as being published and shown on social media web pages.
c) Content:
This poster includes the album artwork, date of release and information about how to purchase it.
d) Style:
The poster follows a very plain style, it is mostly black and white, the only other colour coming from the album cover itself. The text links very well to the picture because of the hand made look of the cover, the text on the poster also looks hand drawn. They have used plain colours like black and white to get the attention from their intended audience, the black is mostly used so that it appeals to people older than 15 years old, this album is not for kids and by the design of the cover it makes sure that kids aren't going to be attracted towards it because it is not brightly coloured or very graphical and interesting, instead it follows a plain hipster style to meet the target of teenagers and young adults.
e) Layout:
Everything on the poster is very large and clear. There isn't much information on the poster, as it comes across as unnecessary for more text to appear on the poster. The title of the album is at the very top of the poster because thats what catches the attention, also the name of the artist is right below that so the audience can get an idea of who the album is from. The release date is right at the bottom of the poster which is effective because it leads the poster off with a high note, the people that have read the poster will now be even more excited because they've learned the date.
f ) Target audience:
The target audience for this poster is mainly Kanye West fans which tends to be people within the age of 15 - 25, both male and female. Males are normally more interested in Kanye Wests music because it can sometimes be very rude and features a lot of swearing however it doesn't single out a specific gender because many girls also like this kind of hip hop music and so anyone can listen to it. It is aimed at teenagers and young adults because older people do not like music that is rude and has a lot of swearing in the songs and also kids shouldn't be listening to songs that have swearing either whereas teenagers are most likely to swear in everyday life and also listen to music that involves swearing which is why they are the intended target audience.
g) Regulatory bodies
The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) controls the advertisement in America whether thats for Advertisement & Marketing, Credit & Finance, Privacy & Security etc. They are the people that control if the advertisement is usable or not, or if any changes need to be made so that it is appropriate for public use.
The ASA is in charge of authorising printed advertisement, the public can write to the ASA informing them about an advertisement that isn't appropriate. There isn't anything on this poster that can be complained about to the ASA. In the advertisements for this album there isn't anything inappropriate on this poster or any other advertisement for 'Yeezus', if there was it would be noticed and taken down by the ASA because it wouldn't appeal to the intended target audience, there isn't any violence or inappropriate language within the advert so it can be seen by all audiences and not offend anyone.

Generate design ideas for three related graphic design items, for an original media product:
These are my ideas:
Idea 1 - The Red Light
- Film poster - Character central on the poster in an action pose holding a key object with the title lower down on the page with a release date, colours will be black, grey and red, the film idea is a 15 originally so so it will be dark and the image will have some suggestion to why it is a that rating and why it appeals to the target audience.
- DVD cover - This will have a different image on it than the poster, this will feature 3 different main characters on the front cover in action poses standing next to each other, this will have the title at the top, a rating on the bottom corner, cast members and other information at the bottom.
- Phone case - This will be merchandise for the film idea and will just have the title on it with a signature object and background but no characters as phone cases are usually simple and so that is the style I will be going for.
Idea 2 - Mustache Mark
Film poster - For this I will have the animated character in the centre of the poster with the title at the bottom with a release date and the main characters cast member name as well, I will be using bright colours for this and making it appeal to younger audiences because of who and what the character is.
T-shirt - This will be part of the films merchandise and it will be a top with one base colour and one single image in the middle to represent the film. It will either feature the character and title or just the title or just a symbol/object.
Soundtrack album - This will be another part of the merchandising, it will be a front cover of an album, it will have the title, character and bright colours on the album and will be simple with a couple key song names listed in the top left corner.
Idea 3 - Quinn
Film poster - This will be my main advertisement of the media product, I will make it a character profile poster, it will have a plain background with one character central on the poster with the title beneath him/her. It will also feature a launch date at the bottom and a couple of company names.
DVD cover - The DVD cover will feature a simple style of one object with a special effect on it, it will have a dark background with bright green light beams coming from two corners, it will have a certificate rating on it as well as a star rating review, the title and cast members.
T-shirt - This t-shirt will be a simple style, there will not be much on it at all in terms of the content, it will be a plain navy t-shirt with the title Quinn written in a stylish font and the title will be white and will be positioned on the top left corner of the shirt.
How these Ideas fit their purpose and how they will reach their target audience and appeal to them.
Idea 1 - The Red Light:
My ideas for The Red Light will appeal to the target audience because the film idea is targeted towards people aged 15-25 and so dark colours, weapons and action will appeal to that age group. The phone case will also appeal to the audience as simple styles are most often the most effective and attract to more people. The DVD cover will advertise it well and attract audience members because of the style and content on the cover, they will also see the rating and reviews which will attract them to it even more. This idea will fit a good media product purpose as it will do all the necessary things it need to do, it will advertise the original idea, promote the original idea and sell the original idea.
Idea 2 - Mustache Mark:
My chosen media products for this idea will help promote and advertise the idea and therefore attract many people and bring in a lot of profit and so they would fit their purpose very well. The poster that I create will help represent the main character and give the audience more insight to the film and what its about, it is aimed at younger audience members aged 3 and above and I will meet this well through the poster, T-shirt and album because they will all be brightly coloured and simple to be more appealing to kids. The character on all the media designs I create will be a friendly funny cool character for kids to relate to and it will generally be more appealing to the target audience.
Idea 3 - Quinn:
The products that I am deciding to make will fit their purpose for the main idea really well as it will help to attract more audience members to the film, it will also therefore sell the idea and promote it. The target audience will be 12-18 year olds, the film rating is a 12 and it is based on teenagers so it is more likely to attract teenagers, I will be able to appeal to the target audience because the style in which I do my film poster will be really eye catching, It will advertise one of the characters that people will notice and relate to with the colours I use and how I make the character stand out. The other stuff is merchandise and will be around to do with the film, it will be very stylish and simple for people to notice and wear (in the case of the t-shirt). The colours I use will fit the audience because they wont necessarily be bright colours but their will be some elements of luminous colours s well as dark ones.

Budget
My original graphic design idea would cost quite a lot to advertise because it is not very well known. I am going to pay for the phone cases to be made on a reliable website where we can use the design and get them made and delivered to us. The posters will be going on bus stops and billboards and inside cinema complexes around quite a lot of cities in the UK which will be paid for through the budget. The phone case and Blu-Ray will be released in many shops around the world to be sold to the audience 3 months after the film was released in cinemas.
Some of the things I need to spend my budget on are as follows:
£240 - 1 Year subscription of Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop.
£2,040 - I am going to need to hire an experienced co-graphic designer and will require him to work 3 days a week 10am - 3pm for roughly 2 months. £85 a day £17 an hour. The graphic designer rate of Shaun Jackson of SHAUN.J DESIGNS.

Legal and Ethical Issues
There will be legal issues that occur in this process which we will deal with. First off when we release the promotional materials/merchandise we will get permission for any assets that we don't make ourselves. For example some fonts that we might use aren't royalty free or just require credit. To deal with this possible issue we will ask the creator/owner for permission to use it and pay them if needed when we’re making the materials/designs.
Another legal issue is if our advertisements (posters) could be considered offensive, misleading or harming. To deal with this issue we will have a reviewing meeting at each stage to look at the products and make sure nothing can be considered offensive at all. We will also have feedback sessions and ask certain people if they find it offensive at the prototype stages, for example we will get the opinion of a mother and ask her if she has any problems with the design or if she would have a problem with her child seeing it as well as old people and certain people from different ethnic groups. We will also male sure nothing offensive is on the deigns to make sure the products and the advert follow the self regulation guidelines set by ASA UK.
This legal issue about the products being offensive is also an ethical issues of representation because there could be aspects of my products that offend a certain religions and race although this wont happen because there isn't anything in my DVD cover that would offend people as while it is on shop shelves is has nothing bad or offensive on the cover, the other designs also do not have offensive images or graphics.
